Exhibition of the finalist works of the 8th edition of the ModPortrait 2020 competition, organized by the virtual gallery Artelibre. It is the first international figurative painting competition entirely dedicated to portraiture and one of the most important contemporary figurative art events in collaboration with MEAM.
Faces of the elderly and protective suits for healthcare workers; confinement and teleworking: these scenes perhaps define the collective imagination of 2020. Despite the centrality of the virus, the portraits submitted to the eighth edition of the ModPortrait competition move away from this theme to offer a global vision of society through the gaze of 700 artists from 51 different countries. A selection of 90 finalist works from the portrait competition, promoted by the virtual gallery ArteLibre, arrives in Barcelona after being exhibited for two months at the Bantierra Palace in Zaragoza and will remain at MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) until the beginning of September.
